the book of labor

As we draw close to 34 weeks and another day closer to Baby, I decided it was time to work on my birth plan + a "labor outline" for Papi.

So i spent a good part of today going through my Bradley books and clearly writing out things like the stages of labor and what happens in each, how to EFFECTIVELY help me relax and what I do and dont want to happen once the day comes. Its a work in progress but I know it will be pretty helpful to Chico once labor hits. Im still working on my own mental preparation which I will keep doing until labor day (haha), but it made me feel better to have everything I am thinking written out for Papi to see since I may not be in the state of mind to explain it all during labor and delivery. Any tips I should put in my book are welcome :)

ALSO, Heres a list of things we already have:
- boppies (2)
- carseat + 3 bases + skeleton stroller
- crib + mattress
- swing
- bassinet
- carrier?? like for your back i think
- a few outfits (most are bigger sized so we need newborn and 0-3 months im assuming, and also warm things because it is quite cold!!)
- a few burp cloths, towels and washcloths

Thats pretty much it! All of it is handed down from moms at work or family, but I am happy we at least have the majority of the big things we need. On Mommy's wishlist is a Rocking Chair :) I need a nice comfy place to nurse :)

Anyways, baby has been HIGHLY active. Swear this kid never sleeps. Maybe he'll chill out once he's born. Chico and I are more excited by the day, and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone at the shower and celebrating our little bundle of joy!

33 weeks!

I am now 33 weeks and 2 days! YAY :)

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and everything is looking great! I have gained 21 pounds, can you believe it?!!? I sure cant, no wonder I feel so heavy. Thats a lot of weight for me! The baby's heartbeat is really strong and he moves A LOT!! My co-workers say they can sometimes see him sticking out of me haha :) The doctor said I may gain about 10 MORE pounds yiiiikes. I have 7 weeks left (assuming he stays in till then) so I should gain about a pound a week, and baby will be gaining 1/2 a pound a week. Everything is just around the corner it is going by so fast :) I actually look really pregnant now, moreso than I did around Christmas time.

Going to go to work early tomorrow to talk to my director about maternity leave and such. Let's hope they dont try to jip me somehow. Anywho, thats all for today more to come later :)

Hospital Tour

So sorry have been veeeeeerrrrry tired and annoyed with work hence the lack of updates. Anyways....

On Thursday (Jan20) we went to the Roseville hospital where we are planning on delivering. It is 20 minutes or so north of us but I'm willing to suffer a little bit to get treated by nice liberal people and not risk the ghetto-ness at South Sac (which is only an exit away!). Call me crazy but Im gonna do it!

We sat through a little powerpoint presentation which was nice. It also scarred us BOTH for life when we had to watch the video about post-partum recovery. Not fun.
The facility itself is REALLY REALLY nice!! The staff is also very friendly and "liberal", which I am very happy about. I feel like it would be a very supportive environment for us since I want a natural birth and none of those unnecessary procedures done. I would have my own private room for labor & delivery, and another private room for post-partum. Both rooms are a good size with a flat screen tv, sleeper bed for my partner, a nice bathroom/shower and dvd player. The waiting rooms are also pretty nice with TVs and vending machins and there is a cafeteria with pretty good food too. Even better, I have 24 hr visiting hours and there is no limit on how many guests I may have at a time. Good news for me with this big family I have! BUUUT --> we decided no visitors until AFTER the baby is out and mommy & daddy have spent at least an hour alone with him. Its for everyone's safety trust me haha. Sorry none of you get to see me sweaty and screaming i know you are disappointed :)

It was a nice night. It helped me to feel a little less nervous about labor/delivery since it gave me a better idea of what to expect. It also made everything a bit more real for the both of us. I finally got Chico to admit he is a tiny bit nervous haha. (He says he cant be nervous because I am. If we are both nervous he says it wont be good. SO he has to stay positive and disgustingly excited haha) But I do feel less nervous now and even more motivated to get this baby out! I know its not going to be easy but interestingly enough Im super pumped for the challenge :)

All in all a good night :)

uhm what day is it?

So i've pretty much been feeling under the weather for a few days. Last night was so AWFUL! On top of  having the sudden urge to pee wake me up, I was also congested and joined by my good friend Heartburn. Then you know once you get up it takes forever to get comfortable again. So not fun. I feel bad because everytime I get up or move, Chico shoots out of bed yelling "Baby are you okay!!?!" Its actually really cute but I still feel bad waking him up. Hopefully he'll be as alert when I go into labor haha. Anyways, I still woke up and dragged myself to work. Bleh.

Spent my day surrounded by snotty nosed little toddlers. What else is new hah. But i really havent seen so much snot in a while! Boogers and poop. That was pretty much my day. Now im sitting at home feeling like crap but much more content in my bed :)

We recently started talking about whats going to happen when the day comes to deliver this baby. Chico is already making plans to get out of classes haha. My last day of work is March 2, leaving me 13 days till baby's due date to get myself together. Hopefully he stays in until then!!! We are going on our Labor and Delivery Class/Tour of the hospital tomorrow, so that will give us more of an idea of what things we need to talk about more. So exciting!!

Thats pretty much it for today. Not very exciting but one day closer :)

Heres what Mommy and Daddy look like :)

September 25,2010- Daddy proposed to Mommy on the Sacramento River Dinner Cruise. Brownie points! Here is what we looked like (I am 4 months-ish pregnant) ----->

Sometime in October - Felt baby move for the first time! We went bowling with another couple and I rolled a strike. Baby kicked when I jumped up to celebrate.

October 28, 2010- Had our first ultrasound. Found out we were having a BOY! This is what he looked like (his head is to the left)

Heres what I looked like around October/November

December 29, 2010- Passed the gestational diabetes test :) Doctor said I was measuring small so she scheduled another ultrasound to make sure he was growing alright.

January 4, 2011- Had our 2nd ultrasound. Turns out baby wasnt small, he was actually measuring 2 weeks ahead of mommy!! This is what baby looked like (his big ol' head) ---->
